Educational Requirements:
Applicants must have Master’s degree in horticulture or related field for Graduate Assistantship in Blueberry Breeding Program 2025. Applicants do not need to have previous plant breeding experience but should have course work and or research experience in horticulture or a related field.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Scientific writing skills demonstrated by peer- reviewed publications, experience in quantitative genetics, writing R, Python scripts, and other bioinformatics skills are preferred. Successful candidates are expected to have a positive, driven, and team-work attitude.
Responsibilities:
The assistantship award is intended to contribute to your scholarly development and is contingent on your continued status as a graduate student in good standing. The Graduate School considers a full-time graduate student as one who is registered for a minimum of twelve (12) graduate credit hours during fall and spring semesters and nine (9) graduate credit hours during summer semester.
However, to maintain a research assistantship, you will be expected to register for 18 credit hours of advanced courses each semester (fall, spring and summer).

Graduate students in this program will be integrated into a collaborative research team that includes specialists in extension, pathology, entomology, post-harvest physiology, and economics. The assistantship is designed to foster scholarly development and requires maintaining good academic standing as a full-time graduate student.
