Responsibilities:
This position has an effort split of 60% research and 40% extension.
Research (60%):
The chosen candidates will:
- Develop innovative IPM approaches for insect pests of field crops.
- Conduct studies ranging from field trials to lab analyses, modeling, and landscape-scale research.
- Secure external funding to sustain an independent research program.
- Publish in top-tier journals and contribute to international scholarship.
- Mentor graduate students, advise undergraduates, and contribute to academic service at department, college, and professional society levels.
Extension (40%):
A key component of this position is building trust and communicating effectively with field crops farmers and other stakeholders.
- Delivering outreach via digital and traditional communication platforms.
- Partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Cornell AgriTech, and New York State organizations.
- Contributing to the annually updated Cornell Guide for Integrated Field Crop Management.
- Documenting and reporting program impacts for New York’s agricultural industry.
Qualifications:
