About the Role

Medtronic is hiring an Area Sales Manager for its Robotic Surgical Technologies Division in New York City. This position offers the chance to work on the revolutionary Hugo™ Robotic-Assisted Surgery (RAS) System and contribute to advancing minimally invasive surgical technology across hospitals in the region.

This role is ideal for sales professionals with strong experience in medical device sales, especially those passionate about robotics and digital healthcare innovation. While the position is remote, the selected candidate must reside within the assigned territory and travel to hospitals and healthcare centers regularly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sales initiatives for the Hugo™ Robotic Surgery System across hospitals and healthcare institutions in the region.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to drive adoption and increase sales of Medtronic’s surgical robotic systems.
  • Engage with surgeons, hospital executives, and key stakeholders to present financial and clinical benefits of the system.
  • Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities and tailor strategies for market expansion.
  • Build strong partnerships with hospital management, surgical teams, and decision-makers to ensure long-term satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Deliver impactful presentations, workshops, and proposals that align with customer needs and Medtronic’s goals.
  • Collaborate with internal Medtronic teams, including R&D, operations, and marketing, to refine strategies and enhance customer engagement.
  • Maintain expert-level technical knowledge of the Hugo™ RAS system and its components.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required).
  • At least 7 years of experience in medical or surgical equipment sales, including 3 years in capital or complex product sales.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 50% or more within the assigned region.

  • In-depth understanding of minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery.
  • Established professional network among surgeons and hospital staff.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization with cross-functional teams.
